Mikolai Przewalski traveled through the Ussuri Krai, now the Maritime Krai and Khabarovsk Krai, between 1867 and 1869. The author was a geographer and explorer, a member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, and became famous as an explorer of central and eastern Asia and discoverer of more than two hundred species of animals and plants.
